We’re about to enter a triple of triples!
That is to say, 2013, 2014, and 2015 are 3 consecutive numbers that are a product of 3 distinct prime factors.
2013 = 3 × 11 × 61
2014 = 2 × 19 × 53
2015 = 5 × 13 × 31
By contrast, 2012 = 2 × 2 × 503 and 2016 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3 × 7.
The last time this happened was back in 1885 when the women’s suffragist Alice Paul was born. (Another coincidence: Ms. Paul earned her doctoral degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania, and the upcoming issue of the Girls’ Angle Bulletin will feature an interview with Radmila Sazdanović, a postdoctoral fellow in mathematics at the same university.)
When do you think the next such “triple of triples” occurs?
year 2013 is incredible as it is also the number with 4 consecutive integers
